Equipment comparison
Scissor Lift vs Boom Lift: What Is the Difference?
Scissor lifts and boom lifts are both Mobile Elevating Work
Platforms, but they are designed for different access
requirements. The correct equipment depends on the working
height, direction of access, site conditions and obstacles
around the work area.
Which MEWP should you use?
A scissor lift is generally more suitable when the work area is
directly above the machine and a larger, stable platform is
required. A boom lift may be more suitable when workers need to
reach horizontally, travel around obstacles or access a location
that cannot be positioned directly above the equipment.
Equipment selection should always consider the manufacturer's
limits, ground conditions, workplace risk assessment and the
requirements of the specific task.
